Are you considering having any cosmetic surgery? If you are, will you be taking the procedure here in the UK or will you be trying to cut the costs and proceeding with surgery abroad?
There are many pros of travelling abroad to receive cosmetic surgery and this is often referred to as 'Cosmetic Surgery Holidays' or 'Facelift Holiday'. Many procedures are generally cheaper than the UK which makes it attractive to people and also that you may also get a slight holiday from it too.
Some of the main points to consider though are making sure you get a surgeon who has all the correct credentials and also that the surgeon is registered with the appropriate governing association to carry out the procedure.
Make sure the surgeon is certified and don't be afraid to ask, as professional and reputable surgeons would not be offended by you asking.
A language barrier can be one of the main downfalls of surgery abroad and trying to get an English speaking surgeon should be a priority.
Try and speak to other patients that have used this surgeon. There are forums on the internet for everything these days so I'm sure this information is available in review format somewhere.
It is easy to get carried away with the idea of travelling abroad to receive cosmetic surgery but there can also be some drawbacks. Some of these drawbacks can include choosing the right surgeon as previously mentioned; when abroad there is no way of finding out is the surgeon has any disciplinary action taken against them which is a worrying thought in itself.
Some other factors to take down would be to also consider where you will be taken for rest post operation. Will there be a good aftercare service straight after? Will you be looked after appropriately? Is there an aftercare programme on returning to the UK? As you will be aware, you will be laid up for up to three weeks depending on what surgery you are taking, so be careful in looking into aftercare.
Don't always go for the cheaper option as the cheapest is usually not the best and when you are buying something such as cosmetic surgery always look after number one and don't be swayed by price.
Always do your homework and look into every little factor before choosing this option. In many cases, the surgery is often cheaper abroad especially in Eastern European countries, but should the aftercare not be suitable it could end up costing you a lot more to travel too and from that particular country should there be any complications, in these cases the cheaper option would be to stay in the UK to take the surgery.
One of the leading places in Europe to proceed with cosmetic surgery is Spain, and the number one place in Spain is the south. You can make savings of up to thirty per cent on procedures with the majority of the surgeons speaking English; also they are all monitored under strict rules and are certified professionals. You will also find that many cosmetic surgeons in Spain are registered with the General Medical Council in the UK however, be sure to still check these out.
If you are considering any procedures then probably the best place to go to save money, but still receive excellent service and professional surgery would be Spain. Why not try and rid some of the nerves if you are a bit anxious by booking one of the many holidays to Costa Almeria or even Costa del Sol on the south coast of Spain, that are available from nearly every airport in the UK. This is sure to help you feel a little more at ease if you incorporate a holiday with your treatment.
